I’m grateful for my imagination. As a child it enabled me to cope through much hardship and as an adult it has helped me solve many dilemmas that, someone not so creative, may not have figured out. I credit my compassion, my leadership success and my passion in life to my creativity, which mixed with a little heart, intellect and spirit, manifests through my imagination.

What I love about the book, Where the Sidewalk Ends, is that the author takes you to places unimaginable and his drawings compliment this creative journey nicely. It really does speak to the inner child when you connect to this wild but fun poetry!

What is the silliest thing you’ve done or written that is reflective of your inner child? For example, I like to still make snow angels after a good winter storm here in Michigan. Leave me a note about something you do to keep this inner child alive; share!

I love the thought of this piece; if you’re to close to something and you’re feeling helpless in resolution, lean away to see if this shift offers clarity.

It is definitely easier said than done. If you are a parent of young adults, life has probably humbled you enough, by now, through relentless experiences that have caused you to step back and let your adult child find his or her way.

We all want to dig in each and every time our adult son or daughter stumbles but if we were to, how could they ever learn true independence?

For me, I’m noticing as I am leaning out, away from the hardship, I am leaning into my faith.  One of my favorite verses in the Bible says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me,” Philippians 4:13 King James Version. This verse empowers me.

It feels like a miracle when you step out of the victim mentality and into the survivor’s shoes. Your helpless self turns confident just through this newly labeled perspective.

Think about how you look at yourself and how you feel about yourself. Are you giving your power away or are you empowering you?

It is really important to understand this.

Can you share any thoughts?

I have found myself drawn to a lot of soups as of late. We discovered Bertilla’s frozen soups at store and, although I prefer a homemade soup, these bags of soups are mouthwatering!

I mentioned the turkey I made and then I used the leftovers to make white chili; this is also a yummy escape from winter’s harshness.

Last week I was lucky enough to meet 2 friends at Olive Garden for a couple hours of bliss and this week I’m catching up with another for tea. This really is helpful. I find when I enjoy good company; my spirit lifts through this kinship.

Yesterday, I used a gift card from my fiancĂ© and kids to a spa to get my hair colored and cut. It is amazing how therapeutic this process is for me. First, I’m friends with my hair stylist and she is wonderful. Secondly, a little pampering goes a long way…
And, of course, getting rid of gray hair seems to take years off, not only my physical age, but from my psyche. It is truly amazing.

If you’re feeling down, it is really important to pay attention to the little things that help lift your spirit; make sure you schedule these as a priority. You deserve a break from the wintery weather; gift yourself a series of retreats!

How do you embrace a retreat from the wintery madness of Mother Nature?

I am a true believer that the creation of our reality is a manifested affect of our thoughts, words, actions, habits and character.  When things go wrong and you end up in a destiny of sort that feels unhealthy, you might work hard to push for change but somehow it is easy to miss this very basic ingredient, this common denominator is you.  If you are showing up unhealthy in the first place, this will manifest into reality.

The concept is simple, the difficult part is finding the courage to understand and even embrace the darkest parts in you. Hug this enemy; forgive you for any shortcomings, for past mistakes. This forgiveness will release toxin that will help heal you. It is a necessary step in realizing your destiny.

What are your thoughts about this?  Does it make sense to you?

Is your tempo in sync? continued...

I love when the world of expressive art overlaps into our living practices. Why, because I believe art is life and life is art. They are reflective of each other.  When I started writing my article on life tempo, I hadn’t yet discovered Burkeman’s article, when I did, I was ecstatic; his piece was right in line with my thought.

I do believe our timing, more in the sense of the vibration we’re giving out, is everything. When things “feel right” when we’re with another person, much of this is because of alignment of timing; being in sync.

Whether it’s an intimate relationship or friendship, tempo can make it or break it.

Today, I am in alignment with my fiancé. And, this harmony comes from our hearts beating in union!

What are your thoughts about tempo and relationships? I would love to hear them.
