My hidden talents include a snap, crackle and pop sound with my body, doodling that turned into my art career, yoyo tricks, string tricks and so on. We were poor growing up so we had to be creative in entertaining ourselves. I remember, at one point, my parents had an old tape player around and I used to record myself telling a story and then mouth the sounds as background noise. It would be a stormy night or I would make the sound of the crowd at the ball game etc. Sounds silly today but it really was a blast back then!
The article is about being silly and being able to let down your boundaries to share your goofy fun. It is really healing to laugh especially when you can laugh at yourself!
What kind of hidden talents do you possess? Can you leave me a note and share?
My blog, Inspirations by Kathryn J. Raths includes posts from 2009 to 2016 that were an extension of my Healthy Living Examiner column which has been closed. However, the articles are being revamped as an extension of Kathryn J. Raths.com, which is in the making! The image is a self-portrait I drew in oil pastels; the woods gift me a deep connection with nature and safety!

My family was very poor when I was a child. My parents did their best although I felt like we were growing up in the 40's as opposed to the 70's. Of course my childhood set a course that enabled me to be a very passionate and aggressive person. I had a very active imagination when I was young and I spent a lot of time drawing. All it took was a pencil or crayons and some scrap paper; I could look at anything and draw it. I'm sure all of my childhood practice helped me to hone my skills into what they are today. When I sit in front of a blank sheet of paper and before I know it, the empty space comes to life as I create an image filled colors and emotion, I'm actually feeding my inner child. I love the feeling I get as I complete each piece of art. I haven't spent much time, as an adult, drawing but now that I'm making a career of it, I'm excited to give myself permission to play! Have you given yourself permission yet?
