Sometimes I think we believe we are on a journey attempting to accomplish something but in actuality we’re running in circles and getting nowhere fast. The solution for these types of scenarios is really an essence of “being in the moment”. But before we can attempt to be in the moment we need to gain self-awareness that we’re actually stuck. How can we gain this awareness? First, we must be accountable for our decisions, behaviors and actions instead of pointing our fingers elsewhere by blaming others. If we’re accountable we can recognize that we’ve put ourselves wherever we are and because of this we have the power to remove ourselves and begin again as Sart so elegantly said in my article.

I used the word surrender in my article because I truly believe when we feel the world is against us, we must fully surrender to this feeling. Just by accepting our circumstance in the moment, we can shift our energy and strategize for change. Instead of pushing again a brick wall suddenly this shift enables us to find a window, push it open and move through it. This has been my biggest lesson so far and it continues to shape shift its way into my life so I can fully “get it”.

I started the article by asking if you feel your life and all that it involves, I’m curious about this are you?

I met a friend at St. Joe Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan this week and this is where we walked the Labyrinth circle. I have been to this hospital hundreds of times and I had never realized they had a Labyrinth on the campus. It was a delightful experience.

Have you ever walked one? It can be confusing at first until you understand the pattern. This one had light and dark bricks and as long as I stayed on the dark bricks, it turned in and out and led me to the center. Once I arrived I prayed for clarity and healing. I was really surprising how my migraine lifted as I settled into this sacred walk.

It did remind me how powerful the mind is and how this strength can be a friend or an enemy. Self-imposed stress is stifling. It will drain the life from you. It is important to realize the severity of negative thinking otherwise you too will suffer ill health.

My migraines are becoming less and less as I harness my thinking ability and learn to better channel these negative thoughts and emotions. This understanding is the ultimate find.

What are your thoughts? Leave me a note and let’s talk about it.

I liked how Adyashanti used the word consent to participate in the present moment experience. This offers a different spin on the “standard surrender process” most speak about when we discuss facing adversity.

When we don’t consent, and we’re forced into something, we are victimized by the circumstances and experience, we have no control or composure what so ever.  By consenting, it is a step to take ownership of the moment, you may not know what is going to happen but you trust the universe and you trust your ability in being both open to the experience and in being able to learn from and eventually persevere.
Present moment living is really complex to fully understand and embrace. But, in a simple view, it really does start with just being okay being.

What are your thoughts?

While I was working on this article I looked up sanctity (my son gave me this word when I said I wished the world sacrednicity existed). This is when I found the word sacrosanctity in my Microsoft thesaurus. I love stumbling on new words, especially ones that carry powerful meanings like sacrosanctity! Do you have any words that are special to you? Send me a note and share them.

I’ve shared previously (as I learned in my Group Therapy class) if you are anxious a lot, you are living in the future (feeling fearful) and if you are feeling guilt, you are living in the past with regrets. Life isn’t all about being on vacation and feeling blissful. Frankly, these moments are treasured like diamonds in the rough. Present moment living requires you to be courageous because feeling the moment is usually a roller coaster of emotions.

I love the Deepak quote that Oprah shares in the article, “Attention energizes; intention transforms.” Imagine, that the magnificence of both energy and transformation can be gained through present moment living; this is really empowering!

Appreciate your loved ones, especially during the crazy holiday season; be an attentive listener and feel the love that surrounds you!
