Hope for our Graduates

My fiancés’ daughter graduated today and my eyes welled up as I took in all the bliss. These graduates held their heads high; they wore big smiles, and emanated energy of inspiration; it is beautiful to experience.

My fiancé and I have 4 young adults, 18, 19, 20 & 21 years of age. Seeing these kids grow into individuals who now all tower me in height is surreal. I love their individuality and witnessing how they explore and figure out what feels right to them.  I am in awe of how smart and creative they are, and most of all, when I see their kindness shine through, it makes me feel most proud.

Yes, I know that applying all of our heart to our endeavors can be vulnerable and scary, but I think it is worth the gamble. I am all about heart!

What do you think is the best advice you got when you graduated? It’s funny. I really do not remember being the recipient of any words of wisdom. I’m sure I was, but I wasn’t really present to hear them, so I didn’t retain the information.

My wish for the graduates today is to fully experience the present moment in everyday life; take as much of it in as possible because life goes by too quickly, but it's truly a beautiful journey!

We recently spent some time in the Salem/Boston area on the East coast and we had a blast. There were a lot of young people in downtown Boston (some pretty fun street performers) and also many worked behind the scenes in Salem. They do seem more open, spiritually, than my generation. Perhaps this is because of the shift in society forced by the economic downturn (many people suffered loss in 2008 and the years that followed). I often wonder if I had found my path to enlightenment twenty something years ago, how much heartache I may have sidetracked but, then again, I am the person I am today because of the pain I have suffered; it enabled my growth.

This article was inspired by a discussion at school about these young adults and entitlement. I do believe it overpowers this population but I have faith, especially since they have heart, they too will overcome and persevere. They will suffer through the harshness of realizing, you can’t always get what you want, but this pain will gift growth.

I must admit I do enjoy going to a psychic on occasion and listening to what might be in store for me.  But, regardless of what I hear, I continue to push forward on the path I'm passionate about. Sometimes though, I might get a tip to help me along the way. It is really interesting when someone can share their gift and read my energy with insight that, in my opinion, can only be of the light because it promotes a greater good.

I believe I am intuitive and I would like to develop this feeling more. A bit of divine insight that I can tap into at any given moment would be a beautiful thing.
