Is therapy for you, continued...

If you follow my column, you are aware I am working on my credentials to become a Limited Licensed Professional Counseling (LLPC). I am getting my Master’s degree in Mental Health counseling and I love this curriculum. The psyche is complicated but intriguing to me.

I have always been a helping person, someone who others go to for support and advice. Although, what I’m learning in school now is that counselors do not often offer advice, we actually help the client find their solution, we do not give the answers, we give options and education. We can explore a person’s past, patterns, thoughts, emotions and behaviors. By creating a safe environment and a spiritually sacred and trusting relationship, we can guide the client through darkness into the light.

To live one’s truth is freeing and spiritually uplifting. This, my friend, is living mindfully with purpose. It is what our lives are truly about.

Have you been to therapy? Do you feel like sharing? Did it help? Talk to me...

Why raw juice, continued...

Examiner article I purchased a juicer (Jay Kordich Power Grind Pro) in July from Kohls department store. I had gone school clothes shopping for our 4 teenagers and this excursion gifted me $130 in Kohl’s cash. The juicer I chose was on sale from $400 down to $200 (50% off) and I had a 30% discount coupon. With tax included I paid less than $40.
It was a great purchase that I’ve used many times a week since. I really haven’t lost any weight because I am not juice detoxing; I’m still eating solid foods and plan to continue. This nice cup of fresh juice compliments my meal nicely, I'm happy with this nutritional addition to my diet.
Have you tried a raw juice before? It has a thicker consistency; it’s kind of foamy. I have made some rather bad juice concoctions by mistake; a V6 juice I tried to make tasted horrible.
For it to taste good to me, fruit is the primary ingredient. I usually add either spinach or kale to every batch I juice up and the sweet fruits really do cover the bitter taste of the greens nicely. Kale is not something I like so this is a way to get this super food into my diet.
Do you give raw juice a thumbs up or thumbs down? If you've not tasted it, give it a try and then leave me your thoughts!

Silent-suffering, continued...

The topic silent suffering surfaced in correspondence handed out in my group therapy class. This class really does support the concept of relationships. It is amazing what the presence of another or others can do for the psyche. It may feel like you're in this world alone but we are all suffering together and, of course, we are all enjoying the joy of life with each other too.

Silent suffering is self-torture. Give yourself permission to share your story. It might seem like others won't understand but you will be surprised how common your experiences are, both the good and the bad ones.

Take a chance, it is worth the risk.

Leave me a note and let me know what you think, let's make a connection!

Self-reflection, continued...

We’ve all heard it before, “You already have your answers, just look within.“ Self-reflection is the process of tapping into your inner guru or what I believe to be, your higher self. This is the celestial spirit at work and, if you really tune in, you can get the answers you need. It is an amazing process.

I’ve really only started self-reflecting in my “awake time” since I’ve started my group therapy class. Yes, I’ve meditated on things in the past but, as of late, I’ve been thinking a lot about me.

This may sound a bit self-centered but I’m not thinking about things I need but more so, the core of me as a being. Why I do the things I do? It is pretty deep stuff but, by doing so, I believe I am learning more about what makes me tick so to speak.

You know how most everyone knows someone who can push your buttons, do you ever wonder why? This is the kind of stuff I am learning through self-reflection.

It is quite the trip. Get on board and give it a shot!

I have learned that a person's true colors, their identify surfaces during hardship. Do they go down with the ship or do they step up and persevere? Are they all talk or is there some substance beneath?
Sometimes it is easier to see through someone else's bull crap but the stuff you are slinging goes unnoticed. Clarity about identity comes through authenticity. You have to learn to be mindful to self in order to live with intent. What is your body telling you?

If it feels wrong, it is wrong. Try something else. If you are unhealthy, change your environment. This is your body communicating to you. If you are not sleeping right, something is bothering you. Figure it out. This is the most important thing you can do for you, own your identity.

There is only one you, make sure each and every breath you exert is worth it!

Who are you? Introduce yourself to me and my readers.

Who knew when someone said, "She is beautiful inside," science would be able to actually validate this and, that the source of these perfectly crystalized molecules in the human body would be love! This really is the answer to much of our dismay!

I am really intrigued about this stuff!

My son has recently decided to go into BioChemistry and study to be a scientist. I'm hopeful this venture for him will gift more of this type of education to me, it is quite insightful and profound. It really does help put things into perspective.

What are your thoughts about this, do you care to share?

Celebrate the american worker, continued...

I, like many Americans, have always appreciated the long holiday weekend although I had never really researched its origin in the past. It's obvious, based on the name, Labor Day is associated with work. Usually, for me, it is symbolic of the end of summer, kids going back to school and the arrival of fall. Sad in a way because the year seems to go by so fast after this holiday comes and goes.

It is amazing to me how people survived in the job conditions a century ago. Can you even imagine?
We've all had a bad job but my worst doesn't even compare to the stuff these early Americans had to endure prior to the accomplishments by the United States Department of Labor.

Do you like your job or is it something you're doing to get you by for now? I do love what I do for a living although, since I'm transitioning, I have a long ways to go and this can be discouraging!

Drop me a note about your work situation, I would love to hear about it.

In the meanwhile, Happy Labor Day!
