Weigh your options, continued...

As we drove round and round the mountains in California, I kept thinking this is metaphorically killing me. It was also taking a physical toll on me. I had a sinus infection and the long car ride, motion and altitude all made for a rough day.

I also realized that as we mature, we can better see our options. My son wouldn't even consider thinking the north route might save time although it made a 2 hour difference in the trip.

Have you regretted any choices you've made in your life? If so, have you learned your lesson? Look closely to understand how the outcome has shaped you in a positive way. Leave me a note and tell me about it. I would love to hear your story!

Gratitude relevant to my physical condition, continued...

After being away from the gym for 2 weeks and fighting a sinus infection, I tried to push myself to go in for a workout. Little did I know my challenge was insignificant in comparison to the stranger who pushed himself out of his wheelchair to embrace a bike at the gym. This man was a true inspiration. I'm not sure of his story and, had I pryed I'm sure it would have been inappropriate so, of course, I didn't.

It amazes me how someone else can power a new perspective such as that I was gifted today. It was enlightening and humbling. I'm so grateful for this encounter. It will push me for years to come!

Can you share any stories of enlightenment? I would love to learn from your encounters also. Drop me a note and let's connect!

I love my kids but by the end of summer my tolerance for them is pretty scarce. I'm ready for the whole back to school routine. They are polite kids and helpful to most everyone except me. I'm proud of their intelligence and work ethics (outside of the household) but lord help me inside!

It is like pulling teeth to get help from them! What are your feelings about the kids going back to school? Do you have any tips that might help parents of teens? Leave a note, we'll try just about anything:)

Moderation gifts health, continued...

I live my life trying to find a middle ground. Although, it doesn't quite work so well when I apply this concept to my diet. I'm like most others, it is all or nothing and, as I say in the article, this is a self sabotage. I'm not sure why for me, it is feast or famine? I'm still working on this but I think it goes back to my poor childhood and the fact that, when I got dessert, for example, my portion was limited because I was the youngest of 4 and we didn't have any money. I think I'm still trying to feed my inner child!

I do believe in the words of the article although I have to figure a way to reward myself with a treat without falling off of the health wagon completely. Moderation is difficult but I have faith that I can conquer it.

If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them. I'm always open to someone else's point of view and tips!

It amazes me how many people lose their ethics as they reach a power position. I've been in the business world for over 20 years and I can count on one hand how many individuals I've encountered who seem truly ethical. And, if you are, you stick out like a sore thumb. It is really discouraging!

As noted in the article, I believe the universe has its own natural cleansing process for these individuals although it seems they are in power far too long!

I love the people who stay humble, remember where they came from, give back and focus to make the world a better place. It warms my heart when I meet someone who cares enough to fight temptations and focus outward instead of inward. This unselfish act is rare and it is greatly needed.

If you know anyone who is genuine in their power position, please drop a note and make a connection. I would love to write about them.

Recovery, continued...

I met up with a dear friend recently who has been through a lot as of late. She is an artist and she has decided to devote her energy into creative efforts of recovery. She inspired my article with her perspective on recovery. I wouldn't have thought of this process in a positive light initially but after our conversation, I thought, wow, life is about recovery and this isn't a bad thing.

It amazes me when, as Oprah would say, I have a lightbulb moment.

Thanks Jude for gifting me this!

Do you have any stories of recovery you would like to share in my column? They really do inspire others going through similar experiences. Think about it and drop me a note if you're willing to share.
