Have you ever met someone who was in a career but really shouldn’t have been? For example a nurse who might have been horrible with people; According to Bishop Banks, this is someone who probably did not follow his or her instinct into this career path.

To me it’s the difference between working with someone who is a natural compared to someone who continually struggles even if they are intellectually smart. I believe it is so important to follow your heart. Bishop Banks said you must follow your why (your passion/instinct) and if you do, you can always hire the intellect to enable your how in order to make this passion come to life. This makes good sense to me.

At first thought, I didn’t really consider there to be a difference between instinct and intuition, I thought of them as synonymous to one another. After I considered each they really are unique. Wikipedia.com helped me to clarify. I believe these tools are both gifts from God.

Wikipedia explains the difference between the two, “For example, if you sense a big object suddenly approaching your head, the instinctive action is to duck and possibly raise you hand to protect yourself. This is all done in an instant. You didn't even have to think about it. The action was instinctive. Instinct refers to natural reaction or behaviour, such as a mother's instinct to care for her offspring, or an animal's instinct to migrate to warmer/colder climes or to habitual spawning places.

On the other hand, you may find that, somehow, you are able to perceive something that is not plainly evident, having some insight of mind that can see beyond the obvious, such as what may be troubling someone who seems disturbed. Intuition relates to thoughts and feelings you have about a matter, but which you cannot explain or justify by rational logic.”

I believe these thoughts are more manifested from our 6^th sense; they are celestial.

This article is near and dear to my heart. With each subject I choose to write about in my column, I research the topic after my written draft is complete. This helps either validate my article or I might choose to revise it and site particular sources or even link to it so others can benefit from the extra information. I learn from every post! And, each helps me to stay on track within my own life. I'm hopeful you are getting some sort of inspiration from my writings (both the column and my book) to help you continue forward.

It is really trying to go from a role leading a department of type A personalities, receiving a high level and very concrete payroll check, multitasking business challenges 24/7 and receiving instant feedback, to this new world I have embraced. Talking to you in this virtual forum, wondering if anything I've posted is helpful to anyone and trying to keep my faith considering my instinct is moving me forward towards something bigger than me that I haven't quite put my mind around yet. I know time will eventually let me in on this grand plan but meanwhile I'm trying to "keep my faith". What challenges your faith today and what has helped you to keep moving forward with it intact?
