To me the concept of intuition makes perfect sense; 6-sense intuitive feelings are essentially the sum of our experiences (both physically and spiritually perhaps over many lifetimes) and the wisdom this experience offers. We are empowered by tapping into the greater collective universal whole and the gateway to this celestial force is in the core of self. When we are balanced and in tune spiritually we gain clarity beyond rational cognitive thinking.

I love the quote shared in the article describing intuition, “…conscious insights, subconscious memories and senses converge to bring forward a conclusive insight…”

The same article that I quoted from started the intuition explanation by sharing this insight about animals, “There was a popular news story in 2007 about a cat who lived in a nursing home and consistently jumped on a patient’s bed within a couple of hours of the person’s death.  Dogs often alert their owners before a health crisis occurs, like a heart attack or stroke.

It appears that animals have some kind of heightened sixth sense to subtle changes in the environment and to the people around them. They are tuned in to changes in smell and vibratory shifts. It’s clear that some animals can sense human emotion and respond to it.”

The point is, for animals, it’s natural to them; part of their instinct. They do not have the rational cognitive thought developed in order to second-guess such feelings.

I’ve shared previously that I believe we become more intuitive as we get older and I think this is because as we mature, we get more comfortable in our skin and less impacted by nonsense.

This is a very interesting topic to me. I hope to study it more thoroughly in the future. Are you an intuitive person? Leave me feedback; I’m interested.

All or nothing, continued...

I remember when I was devoted to a long work-week scheduled at the office serving a director’s position managing staff, going to school for my Bachelor’s of Business degree, raising my 2 precious sons and doing this all while going through a divorce; the sentence alone is a run on and inappropriate. It is hard for me today to imagine juggling all of this at the same time. It was horrific. While I was at the office, I was present because I didn’t have a choice not to be: I felt I had to support a single household so I gave it my all. I was lucky my sister’s and parents were there to help me. I took as many online classes as possible in school and, of course, I gave this my all; I graduated with a 4.0 GPA. My super-human mindset was motivated by the need to provide a good life for my kids and while I was with them (evenings into the nights and weekends) I gave them 100%. We played, cooked, read books, visited family, went to the movies, explored and we did anything else we could think of that was fun. I remember when we used to lay on the trampoline at nightfall and watch the bats swoop down to catch bugs then we’d go in and research and read about them. The time with my kids made everything else worthwhile to me but the havoc of juggling so much was stressful and, because I never gave myself a break or allowed me to slow down, my body took the toll. I became very unhealthy and my own worst enemy during several years of this routine. I was so hard on myself. Mentally I would beat myself up for my faults and physically I was diagnosed with ulcerous colitis, migraines, Barrett’s Esophagus and reflux. On the outside it looked like I was holding my life together and pushing it forward but inside I was crumbling.

I didn’t like myself at this time. I never felt like anything I did was enough; it didn’t matter what I overcame or how much I accomplished, I would just beat myself up for my mistakes.

Since then I have learned so much through the moments of self-reflection gifted while on my spiritual journey. I realize if I had continued that life, my prognosis would not have been good. I had sacrificed way too much in an effort to do it all!

Today I have many goals and I am busy but this agenda is held together by self-care. I am kinder to me and this makes all of the difference. The forty-something me could not step back into the shoes of the early thirty-something me and move it along like I did at that time. The wiser me would pick quality over quantity. She would still be driven and goal-minded but this would cover a reasonable timespan. My health would be a priority not an afterthought. Today I have put to rest my inner perfectionist and instead I welcome my, sometimes disorderly, peacemaker to surface.

How do you view the world? Are you flexible and forgiving or rigid and cold?

At first thought, I didn’t really consider there to be a difference between instinct and intuition, I thought of them as synonymous to one another. After I considered each they really are unique. Wikipedia.com helped me to clarify. I believe these tools are both gifts from God.

Wikipedia explains the difference between the two, “For example, if you sense a big object suddenly approaching your head, the instinctive action is to duck and possibly raise you hand to protect yourself. This is all done in an instant. You didn't even have to think about it. The action was instinctive. Instinct refers to natural reaction or behaviour, such as a mother's instinct to care for her offspring, or an animal's instinct to migrate to warmer/colder climes or to habitual spawning places.

On the other hand, you may find that, somehow, you are able to perceive something that is not plainly evident, having some insight of mind that can see beyond the obvious, such as what may be troubling someone who seems disturbed. Intuition relates to thoughts and feelings you have about a matter, but which you cannot explain or justify by rational logic.”

I believe these thoughts are more manifested from our 6th sense; they are celestial.

Do you think I’m crazy?

As you can see, if you follow my column, I gained a great deal by reading Mark Ireland’s book, Soul Shift, Finding Where the Dead Go. In my copy, many pages were dog-eared and these are the concepts I’ve brought forward over the past few articles: rate of vibration, synchronistically living, energy field, natural unfoldment, sensory receptors, the walking dead and much more.

I love a book that offers simplistic explanation of complex things especially in the world of metaphysics; Mark Ireland has a way of doing this!

In my article I talk about a network, which used to be taboo for me. When I was in management in the automotive industry, there were a lot of fake people trying to make connections with key individuals in order to promote his or her self. These individuals were self-centered and they would step on anyone to get ahead. Unfortunately, they were the majority of personalities in this environment. I stuck out like a sore thumb. I was never someone to “work the system” at the harm of someone else. I hated this network.

It wasn’t until I set a pattern of synchronistic living in motion did I truly appreciate my network of support. The difference here, you do not go out and force a connection to get ahead, it surfaces through genuine give and take, a karmic vibration. I am blessed for the interface and support in my world. It really is something amazing to experience. It is my wish you are able to experience these genuine connections.

Do you recognize this happening in your life? Or, if not, are you willing to move out of your comfort zone to put this in motion? Let me know, I’m curious!

I’ve written about the impact of the loss of my father many times; this was life altering. It gifted me a new look at life; through the perspective of appreciation because of the realization of the limited time anyone is here on this earth.

I have not read Dani Shapiro’s book but I can certainly relate to her story in the sense of her “wake up call” and the feelings of being broken.

She starting asking herself, “What is the spiritual take away of my past and my here and now?”

Pretty insightful words; give them some thoughts and answer this question for yourself.

And then, Oprah recommends you say this to the universe: “I am open and ready to receive.”

Spiritual enlightenment really is a path worth walking, do you agree?
