Heart Beats

Kathryn J. Raths, LLC photo taken of artwork in Jamaica

I am truly a feeling person. I believe I have the gift of discerning other’s feelings too. I’m sure with practice, this will strengthen and be fundamental to the Mental Health Counseling career I am pursuing. This connection helps me assess and reach out to others whenever I can. I used to think I needed to offer advice to solve everyone’s problems but this isn’t the case, it actually hurts them more than it helps. Lending an ear for attentive listening or a shoulder to lean on makes a big difference to the individual struggling. It helps this person realize he or she isn’t alone. And, when we open our hearts to others, it creates a connection that not only helps the person in need but also helps us.

I’ve said this before, but when we are walking on a spiritual path, we realize that although we are responsible for ourselves, we are all here making our way together with others; we are attached through a collective whole. When you can see the world this way and appreciate your place in the greater whole, you realize you are never truly alone, nor are you suffering something that others haven’t; someone somewhere has gone through a similar situation and/or is going through it now.

Reach out and lean on others and create connections that are heartfelt; it will make your world blossom and expand!

Are you a thinker or a feeler? Drop me a note and let me know.

It can be really difficult to open your heart once you’ve been hurt by someone but I am confident, it is worthwhile to do. I wrote my Live from the Heart article not necessarily speaking about romance but more so in a sense of spreading love through kindness. If you’ve been hurt it is a great way to recover.

I believe love starts with you, it is essential you like the person you see in the mirror. If not, you will have a hard time giving something you don’t already have! It is really important to think about this, if you’re continually getting hurt, you need to vest your time to self-love. If you don’t, you will continue to attract more of the same, please, you are worth more than an unhappy life.

Find your love and you’ll discover it is ever flowing as long as it starts with you!

I’ve been burning my candle from both ends for the last couple of weeks so I’m going to retreat next week for some well needed family time. I am already feeling the love, are you?

Tribal culture, continued...

Some people may argue that involving your heart in your work environment is not a good practice but I have always disagreed with this. When I channel through my heart it makes me a person instead of just a boss. I am sincere and considerate offering an understanding that brings a healthy balance to the work relationship. Of course, when a decision must be made or reprimands are necessary, I’ve stepped up and did what I had to do. My employees realized my disappointment and, in most cases, stepped up to the challenge.

In all of my managerial roles, I have created a great departmental structure with a foundation of heart that manifested productivity. It has been and continues to be key to my success. As I said in the article, I believe that when a person filters from the heart especially in the home, it is beneficial in creating a healthy home life.

What are your thoughts about tribal culture and does it fit into your life? I’m curious, leave me a note.

Examiner article

I am someone who has learned to lead with my heart first but support my heart with my mind. I am also very spiritual; it's a perfect blend. You might be challenging the risk of leading with the heart but I am willing to take this risk. I would rather feel life than numb myself from living.  I cherish my intelligence and I am a lifelong learner. I appreciate my thought process and how this validates my feelings; both good and irrational emotions. It is a necessary tool that keeps me on track.

The color of the bird in the photo above is the color I see when I meditate. This is something that helps me shutdown my thoughts and tap into the universal connection of energy. It is really holistic. If you have problems feeling or finding a path that blends both heart and mind; practice meditation, it will help. Spirituality might be the missing piece for you.

What are your thoughts about mind and heart? Please, leave me a note! I love the connection.
