Tranformative Wishes

Kathryn J. Raths, LLC photo

I have been transformed by resurrecting and reshaping my life over the past several years. I went back to school and worked hard to create the life I was meant to have; perhaps, the life my first 40 years of living has prepared me to embrace. Do not misunderstand; during my first 40 years, I experienced love, created a family, and nurtured my children. At the same time, I climbed the ladder of a career I will call Chapter One. I also experienced much hardship and heartache, which, in the aftermath, I am grateful for because it helped me to mature and evolve into a more compassionate person, the self I embrace today. I am passionate about my life; I feel I have arrived, and I’m on a path that nurtures me and the world around me, one person at a time, through my counseling efforts. I am grateful for my life experiences, and while I’m sure I will continue to be challenged and manifest new endeavors as I grow, I am also sure my faith and perseverance will help me rise above and continue to be shaped by such sacred experiences, especially those with others.

I wish that you, too, will find your way through suffering and you will be able to use this testimony to transform, to feel worthy of manifesting a more glorious chapter of your life. May you continue to live your truth and evolve. Cheers to our future selves!

7 Habits, continued...

I have always been hardworking, I think my financially poor upbringing has instilled my work ethic in me and as I grew into an adult I realized early on the value of being authentic. Both of these qualities have helped me earn respect and build long lasting connections personally and professionally.

I struggled in my early business years in trying to achieve a balance between home and work; I gave both my all but in the process I sacrificed much of myself. I had the attitude that what doesn’t break you makes you stronger but I learned we really do have to be conscientious and real about what we can take on physically and mentally; too much can hurt even if it looks like we’re juggling everything well from the outside. This is why I spent a week in the Franklin Covey workshop, which taught good time management and introduced me to the book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. As I said in the article this discovery really did change my life in a good way. I am an organized, assertive, successful person and I credit Stephen’s 7 Habits book as a contributing factor to my success.

I believe Stephen’s book is a worthwhile read that will help you manifest the best of you in your life. He shares humbling personal stories that have helped raise his self-awareness and have transformed his thinking and his life.

The book is full of insight; pick up a copy and leave me your thoughts once you've read it!

Be your own hero, continued...

I love how Elizabeth Gilbert recognizes the empowerment that comes from the journey of healing or what she calls, “The Hero’s Journey”.

It is triumphant and beautiful how a person can pick him or herself up from the ashes of tragedy, changed from the hardship, and engage the world in a forced rebirth. Or, as Elizabeth calls it, “Turn suffering into grace”.

Or, if you just dwell in the trauma without taking the bridge to healing you waste away in the pain; it kills you. Elizabeth calls this “wasted pain”. I have died many deaths in this lifetime. During each hardship, I couldn’t even imagine life after whatever the loss was in the depths of my suffering. But, the truth is, I did answer life’s call and I continue to; I’m my own hero.

And, the magic in all of this is that when I discovered I could save myself, all of the pieces started falling into place.  I’ve realized we have to step up and play the hero role time and time again. Why, because I am worth it and you are worth it too.

If you’re stuck, break through the barrier of change; live to transform.

Heightened life appreciation, continued...

Andy LaPointe continued the interview.

“As Jen talked with our kids, I remember standing on the corner of 45th and Broadway looking around at the thousands of people enjoying the warm spring night in Time Square. What I remember the most while I stood on that corner was a five to six foot pile of black garbage bags stacked on West 45th. What I didn't notice was the SUV parked right next to the pile of trash. We were literally 30 feet away from the SUV packed full of explosives set to go off at 6:30 PM EST.

After Jen hung up the phone with the kids, we began to walk north on Broadway toward 7th and it was then we started to hear the approach of oncoming sirens. As the sirens increased in both volume and number, we realized something has happened in the immediate area.

However, we were still unaware of the potential magnitude of the event. As the sirens approached, I took a video of the first response units arriving on the scene at approximately 6:35 PM EST. We are standing on the corner of Broadway and 7th, a block or so north of 45th and Broadway.

Fortunately, nothing happened that night but that experience taught both my wife and I not to take anything for granted!”

The close call helped he and his wife to focus more purposefully on the following:

“- Building strong relations and spending more time with our children.
- Building strong relations and spending more time with our extended family.
- Enjoying and truly appreciating every minute life gives to us.
- Focusing on growing our business to help to improve our customers experience and enjoyment of life.”

Andy talked about how this shaped him spiritually, “The experience has helped me to realize how short life really is and how to thoroughly enjoy every moment of the day. Also, it taught me to take nothing or no one for granted. In addition, I now have a better understanding how to live life. Since that day my focus has changed from being competitive to creating. You see, when you're in a competitive mindset you believe you must defeat someone or something. When you refocus your mind to a creating state of mind you have the best interest of others in minds. The end result of a creative mindset is how will your "creation" further enhances the life of others.

Everything happens for a reason, however the reason may not be immediately obvious. As I look back, this event was needed in my life to allow me to advance my mind and outline on life from the competitive to the creative mindset.”

Andy shared, “A higher power is in everything. It's something that can't be easily seen simply with our eyes. It is usually seen better if you have a feeling of gratitude for everything in your life. It's as simple as the feeling of being appreciative for being able to enjoy a sunny day or the relaxation of a rainy day. Faith wants to help people enjoy all that life has to offer.”

I asked Andy to elaborate about his books, “I have written 12 books on the subjects of personal finance, entrepreneurship and how to become a lifestyle entrepreneur. In addition to my superfruit business, I also have a lifestyle style coaching business called Five Day Weekend System http://www.fivedayweekendsystem.com/ This is a complete step-by-step system to first create the lifestyle you want for you and your family and then create the income to support that lifestyle, no matter what that lifestyle is.”

He closed offering advice for those with an entrepreneurial spirit, “Bringing an idea to market is both exhilarating and draining. It's draining due to the fact of all of the personal energy, faith and effort put into something without knowing the payback for the outlay. However, you'll always remember your first sale of the product you created; it a very special moment. It's proof your creative mind, not competitive mind, has created something that enhances another individual's enjoyment of life. The advice I would suggest is to keep an exact list of expenses and always know how much you have placed into a product. This way you'll know how many units you need to sell to get a return on your efforts.”

Certainty of hope, continued...

Because we are human, we have all experienced hopeless moments during times of hardship. But as these moments turn into minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years, this darkness or depression takes over our lives. Hope is the medicine that lights this darkness. Hope energized with certainty is a celestial lifeline that starts from within. Yes, you have the power to save yourself.

When I looked up hope, I was surprised to find the Google meaning, (2nd in the listing) to be, “a feeling of trust.” Honestly, when I was younger I used to think of hope more as wishful thinking but as I have grown I realize that it is much more. The trust I talk about in the article is more of a universal trust, tapping into the greater whole.

When we navigate with our intuition it takes hope to a whole new level. What helps you to stay hopeful? I think the most important thing to know is the realization that hope is vital to living. If you or anyone you know has lost hope, please reach out for help or support your loved one by helping them to do the same. Living without hope can be a toxic place depending on how long you reside there. It isn’t worth the risk; life is too precious to waste!
