This week my cat, Charcoal, decided to cuddle on my shoulder and in my neck while I was working on my laptop. Needless to say, the next day when I awoke, I had some serious poison ivy right where she had cuddled. I'm sure she had to have been rolling around in a patch outside before she decided to gift me with her love!

I could have cancelled appointments or rescheduled and whined about it but instead I embraced the fashion of sleeveless turtle-necks and continued through my commitments. Yes, I would have liked to have felt healthier but for some reason, it wasn't in my cards this week! I do love my little girl but I'm not feeling to receptive to her at the moment; this to will pass:)

What adversity are you up against this week, can you share?

Plant the seed, continued...

Yes, I am someone who believes in all kinds of "hokey poky" stuff:) These are the concepts I work to discover and share with you in my column and blog.

Anything that triggers you to think positive like planting a flower or herb is something I believe whole-heartily. Having the right people around you, healthy and positive colors, books that trigger positive thinking, objects that help you "keep the faith" etc., I can go on and on about upkeeping a supportive environment.

It is really the power of positivity that keeps you rolling in the right direction. The sooner you realize this, the sooner you'll bring sunshine into your life!

If you have any ideas or stories that help you stay on track, drop me a note, I would love to hear about them!

I found Richard on Facebook. The picture he has on his page is a photo take with Jay and Grant who are the founders of Ghost Hunters. I love watching their show on Dish Network and I thought it was pretty cool that Richard had interfaced with them at some point. His passion really interests me!

We went on our 1st ghost hunt a few weeks ago and I thought it was really cool. We had several teenagers with us and split into 2 teams. We were in a very large and old warehouse that had a lot of paranormal stories tied to it.

Just driving up late at night was spooky! We investigated for several hours and at times we even turned all of our flashlights off during recordings (EVPs). We heard several strange noises but we didn't really catch any evidence that was clear enough to prove a haunting. I do feel like the experience gifted me with a bit more strength and courage that I can take with me into my daytime life! It is really something to face an unknown in a pitch black unfamiliar environment.

I was proud of us for not "chickening out" and for pushing forward to check it out. Do you have any similar stories you want to share?

Do you believe in ghost, continued...

Yes, I do believe in life after death. I believe we have an energy that exists within us called our soul and this energy leaves our body when we die. I also believe that some souls do remain on earth in a limbo form hopefully only short-term. I’m not sure why but many believe this is because they have unfinished work, they do not realize they have passed or they are truly lost souls.

The thought of spirits on earth in this realm saddens me. It is my hope that we do exist after death and that we’re able to decipher we’ve passed and move on to a beautiful place of being called Heaven!

What are your beliefs? Please take a moment to share if you feel up to it!

Broken promise, continued...

The article might sound a bit harsh but I really have a hard time tolerating these type of people. When you are in the process of discovering that their words only reflect emptiness, it really doesn't feel good. Their lack of effort and follow through really results in a form of betrayal and it and isn't a pleasant experience.

I work very hard to try to meet my commitments. Sometimes this means I have to push myself when I'm not feeling up to it or maybe I have to find my way through an uncomfortable situation when saying, sorry, I can't to someone. I believe if you tell this person no, in the long run, they would prefer to hear it as apposed to a "no show"!

What type of person really bothers you? Share your feelings with me; they might inspire a future article!

Lisa called me after reading an article I wrote that was published in WE Magazine in Florida this past winter. She made contact to interview me on her Parenting radio show to discuss "Adult Orphans" as she had coined it. I'm pre-recording with her on June 14 and the show will be airing in July. I'll post the link prior to and after the show airs.

It didn't take me long to realize that Lisa is truly a very interesting person who is on a mission to help young parents. Her efforts are genuine and they are very much needed in today's parenting world. Most of us really do not realize the consequences of spoiling our children until it is too late. She has a lot of work ahead of her but if each of us can embrace her message and pass it forward it we might be able to save our future after all!

Your childhood sets the stage for your life but the success of your adult performance is up to you, continued...

It is amazing to me when I see adults playing the blame game. I just want to tell them to grow up. Everything can be justified with an excuse, at least in the mind of the beholder!

If you follow my column and my blog you know my childhood was not the best but because of this, I've pushed myself to work hard and fight for a better life for me and my children. I love my parents and I know they did their best! I was loved regardless of my environment and this instilled the values I needed to survive.

I've also worked hard to make sure my spoiled kids understand the values of hard work and money. They do not get everything they want in the moment but I allow them to earn money and save for the big ticket items which I, of course, help them to obtain. I'm also working to teach them how to budget and to recognize the value of community and helping others. It is a tough balance to achieve and I will not really know how successful I am until they are embracing their adult responsibilities. This, of course, means we must survive their teen years!

How have you turned your childhood disappointments into opportunities? Take a moment to share with me!
