If you are unhappy, continued...

I am really walking the talk here as I ended up in a really unhappy place several years ago. This was after I lost my father and then lost my job. At that time I was in business as a Purchasing Executive and feeling like I was fighting more on a daily basis instead of feeling accomplished and satisfied with my work. It took me a few months and a rock bottom hit to gain my composure, get back on my feet, and redirect my efforts towards my soul-work; serving others through Life Healing Art. And, yes, as much as I hated the thought, I’m back in school; just starting year 2 of my Master’s Degree. Money is tight but, with a lot of prayers, ends are meeting.

It takes courage and a lot of effort but I’m gaining momentum and I do see the light at the end of the tunnel!

What about your, is there a light in your life? Tell me about it.

Your morning ritual, continued...

My morning routine is fairly healthy. When I open my eyes I stretch and take a few minutes to think about any dreams I’ve had. I dream just about every night so I have much food for thought. Next, I usually close my eyes and say a little prayer to God asking for his support during my day and inviting the angels and guides he’s given me (I call them my Team 1) to help me embrace my soul-work and facilitate daily miracles in his service. I feel this prayer really is instrumental in my daily success because it sets my intention.

As I step out of bed, I make my bed. It is more of a loose throw over, which works for me. When I shower, I try to be present and wash away, not only the physical but mental debris. I don’t usually spend much time on breakfast but a quick microwaved egg (you can accomplish this in 2 easy minutes in a coffee mug) or I microwave quick oats, both are healthy options when I’m in a hurry. If I have time I will juice but this takes longer so many times this happens later around dinnertime. I try to treat myself to a chai tea if not in the morning, by night to relax.

I have to work harder to get more water into my day. I do intake some but I am far from the 8 glasses that are recommended.

I used to exercise every morning but, as of late, this activity has moved to later hours, if and when I choose to fit in a formal routine. I’ve realized that if my day requires physical activity (like, for example, shoveling snow), then I’m not worried about hitting the gym.

My resolution has been geared towards better self-care at night! Both are required like bookends to a healthy life.

What is your AM routine? Tell me about it.

Examiner article

Nina Lesowitz and Mary Beth Sammons’ book, The Gratitude Power Workbook, Transform Fear into Courage, Anger into Forgiveness, Isolation into Belonging, is a great bedside read. What I like most about it is I can open it, at any time, to a random page and find inspiration. It is nice to start your day with a "pick me up" and end the day with inspiration. It is something that you can read for a minute or you can spend real time with it and regardless of the duration, I’m certain you will benefit!

They have beautifully pooled quotes that will touch your spirit and help you move beyond the trials of life. They thoughtfully seemed to implant ambers of hope throughout the pages!

If you are looking for a worthwhile read, pick up a copy of The Gratitude Power Workbook and let me know how it impacts your life!

A company with heart, continued...

Regardless of his title, Howard Schultz sees himself as just a kid from Brooklyn. He cares about honoring his parents, who are no longer with him. Howard is passionate about making the world better.

Oprah asked, "What’s next?" He will continue doing what he is doing. He is concerned about our country and the American dream and promise. In Howard’s words, “I think America needs a transformation. I have great faith in the idea of American, but faith is not a strategy…People are waiting to be called. Somehow we’ve given the power and responsibility to people who are not walking in our shoes…”

He labels himself as a, “Concerned, passionate citizen.” As Oprah said, "This leaves the window open with a little breeze coming through.” Whatever Howard tackles next, it is sure to be a positive venture.

Why does this story speak to me? Because here is a man who is running a company that employs approximately ¼ of a million employees and he still cares about their well-being. His focus is on his employees first and, of course, given his heart, his business has grown into an empire, I would like to think, because of it; pretty inspiring!

What are your thoughts?

I just finished reading a Group Therapy book by Yalom and it has offered much food for thought. He talks about what an individual may gain from group therapy. Some may seek relief while others seek growth.

This made me think about the “up’s and down’s” we all travel through during the trials-and-tribulations of life.

In our darkest moments, we pray for relief but ultimately, although we may not literally ask for it, we strive for growth. I want us all to learn from the challenge we’ve encountered in order to minimize or eliminate further similar heartache.

It is my hope that 2014 brings to each of you a year full of growth; realization of your lessons. I want all of your hard work to manifest fulfillment in all aspects; mind, body and spirit.

I am sending each of you light and love as you close the door to 2013 and embrace the new in 2014!

What is your wish? Leave me a note. I would love you know you are out there and you’re sending prayers into the world too!
