Mindtool.com goes on to share that assertive people do not promote bullying tactics, are fair and proceed forward with empathy.
This website offers tips in becoming assertive with a foundation of valuing oneself:
"Understand that your rights, thoughts, feelings, needs and desires are just as important as everyone else's.
But remember they are not more important than anyone else's, either.
Recognize your rights and protect them.
Believe you deserve to be treated with respect and dignity at all times.
Stop apologizing for everything."

Assertiveness to me is really just a softened aggressive nature broken down by the compassion for the wellbeing of others, it is wrapped in heart. I live my life assertively, how about you?

I am declaring, continued...

It is funny how empowering the spoken word is, I really did feel better and relieved when I spoke, out loud, my declaration for my future and the closure of my past.

The declaration fueled the energy I had manifested from within and that which surrounded me and it reinforced my existence in the present moment. These words boosted my confidence and helped me to mentally prepare to overcome life adversity that may get in the way of my genuine purpose.

The last few weeks I didn’t gift myself even a moment to breathe deeply or consider a declaration. I plowed through my urgent tasks without hesitation because I was under some serious deadlines that I couldn’t afford to miss so I did what I had to do but I suffered because of it; I endured a lack of sleep, unhealthy eating, pressure and stress, and this list can go on and on.

So, today, as I thought about this article and what I needed to declare, it felt so good that I declared that I would make more declarations.

We should never jip ourselves from the time it takes to breathe deeply.  Nothing is worth taking away this moment. I have to often remind myself of this. The declarations I made in my article are foundational to this concept.

What declaration will you make today? Leave me a note and declare it to the worldwide web. I’m here and I’m listening!

It can be really difficult to open your heart once you’ve been hurt by someone but I am confident, it is worthwhile to do. I wrote my Live from the Heart article not necessarily speaking about romance but more so in a sense of spreading love through kindness. If you’ve been hurt it is a great way to recover.

I believe love starts with you, it is essential you like the person you see in the mirror. If not, you will have a hard time giving something you don’t already have! It is really important to think about this, if you’re continually getting hurt, you need to vest your time to self-love. If you don’t, you will continue to attract more of the same, please, you are worth more than an unhappy life.

Find your love and you’ll discover it is ever flowing as long as it starts with you!

I’ve been burning my candle from both ends for the last couple of weeks so I’m going to retreat next week for some well needed family time. I am already feeling the love, are you?

The power of humanity, continued...

My article about the overall goodness that emanates from the heart of the human race was inspired by a series of “bad occurrences” that have been thrown into my life path over the past few months. When one thing after another seems to bombard you, it is difficult to find your way through a maze of unfortunate events. Some people call it a rain storm, others call it bad juju or karma kicking you in the butt but I believe there is proverbial wheel of life and sometimes we are on the top of this wheel while other times we are fighting our way from underneath.

Through it all though, I believe in the goodness of others as an empowering source of love. For any person of ill intent that I stumble upon, I can offset this individual 10 fold with good people!

The bottom line is that we must find ways to live our lives with love in our heart instead of fear. This is the only way to surface our best self and to continually grow.

What are your thoughts about humanity? Do you believe the people of the world are inherently good or bad? Leave me a note and let’s chat about it.

A few months ago I started thinking about a collage I want to create depicting my eye placed in the position of the sun. The visual will convey positive outcomes from heartache. I want to drip tears from the eye and include a butterfly, an open book and other objects that offer a spiritual meaning.  I took a photo of my son’s eye and asked him if he could take the same photo of mine. As I looked closely at the photo I could really appreciated the miracle of sight, literally and figuratively.

It was awe-inspiring!
