I met Brian Freeman at Bally's Total Fitness in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is my personal trainer. If you like Bob's style of training on The Biggest Loser, you would like Brian's style. He is considerate but aggressive. He isn't someone who screams in your face and gloats with training power.

Prior to our time together in the gym, I injured my shoulder. Brian was able to still kick my butt during our workout session while, at the same time, being considerate of my injury. He knows what he is talking about and he walks the talk.

It is refreshing to see him once a week. He helps me reach higher and work harder towards my fitness goals. I highly recommend him!

Beyond the physical, continued...

This week is ending emotionally for me. Tonight I went to the funeral home to honor my friend and tomorrow I celebrate with my family and friends my son's 16th birthday party. I bounce in and out of the reality of life and death. It seems to be in my face where ever I turn and I must say, I feel worn out; physically and mentally exhausted.

Tomorrow once the party is over, I will find my way under my covers to fall into a deep and healing sleep. I will spend the next few days focusing on getting my energy back. Prayer and mediation will be key to my renewal. Soothing tea, light foods and exercise like yoga will aid in my recovery. I'll work to let go of my sorrow and accept the world as it is now, this week. All of this will create a foundation that moves me forward again!

The world continues to turn, the universe takes and gives as the cycle continues...

Philosophical layers mark your spirit, continued...

I'm a bit down this week and when I feel this way it seems to manifest in deeper topics for my articles like this one. I'm white gloving my home and when this activity is in your face day after day (we have three levels to our home including the partially finished basement) it is exhausting and miserable. Why do I do this, because it forces me, twice a year, with each of my boys birthdays (winter and summer) to do more than the surface cleaning. I take down curtains, shampoo carpets and unload any of the extra, and unnecessary, stuff that accumulated along the way. Afterwards I feel extremely great. Physically and mentally. Because it is so boring to me during the process my mind wanders into the my philosophical layers and goes into the places that bother me.

Guess what, if something from the past is still bothering me, it is blocking me from moving forward. As usual, I'm taking my own advice to really dig deep and let go. 2011 is the right time to be fully present. I really need to make sure any of my past misery is put to rest so I'm able to give 100% to my future!

What are you doing to create a future worth living? Share your thoughts with me!

It feels like many years have passed since I sat down with Louella and I listened attentively in awe while she talked about her life. It is hard to believe it has been only just over 1 year. To her, a southern modest woman, she was no different than anyone else. She is very humble. But, in reality, she has been super human considering the courage and strength she has embraced to overcome her loss and battle with cancer over 40 plus years. And, I have never even heard her complain!

Louella has been like a grandmother to me and to my kids. I really didn't get to have a special relationship with either of my parents' parents. My father's mom and dad passed when I was young and my mother's parents were not local. They passed in my early adult years. My relationship with Louella instilled values I hope I can pass onto my boys' kids someday when they have them.

I am disheartened to think of my life without her, I can't even imagine how her family feels. Although, in Louella's way, I must be selfless and wish her an urgent end to her suffering so she can embrace the spiritual life she earned and now so rightly deserves!

Are you bereaving the loss of someone who is or has passed through hospice? To be in the side-lines of this is life altering. Leave me a note or send me a personal email so we can support each other!

Michigan's charisma, continued...

I really do believe we can solve the economic hardship by spreading the wealth within struggling economies such as that of Michigan. I am a small business owner and someone who turned to this after the loss of a job. I am still coping through financial struggles although I'm grateful I have been making ends meet. I earn hope with every sale I make on my website, Lifetime Art Impression.com.

I love Michigan and all its beautiful landscapes. I'm not giving up on this state. I know we'll reinvent ourselves probably on the shoulders of its many small business owners marching forward with faith and through hard work.

Better days are coming, what keeps you believing in this?

Living the life you've dreamt of, continued...

I wouldn't trade my old life for where I'm at today for any amount of money. I've come such a long way. I really feel like my puzzle pieces have fallen into place. What am I still missing? The money. Enough money from my work to provide me with a comfortable life. You may think this is a big thing but to me, money is the least of my priorities. You see, I've come from a career that provided me with a lot of money but, at that time, I didn't have true love in my life, I hadn't found my purpose and I wasn't living my dreams. I was just chasing money and living the high life. This really didn't do anything for my core desires.

Today, as I've noted, I've manifested a beautiful life. One filled with love that I give and get back. It is filled with creativity and fulfillment. I'm able to live freely and follow my heart. I'm extremely lucky and grateful. I know that money will come when the time is right. Meanwhile, I am working to continue to align my mind, body and spirit to enable my financial independence!

What is missing in your life? What are you doing to capture it?

I do not believe it was a coincident that the people involved with The Voices of UC (Ulcerative Colitis) stumbled upon my Healthy Living column. I am honored to share Michele's story and their work. You see, I too have suffered from UC for most of my life. I was diagnosed as a teenager. Add this to a stressful work environment as I became an adult and it amazes me that I am alive today. I can really relate to Michele's story. Fortunately I haven't reached the severity of Michele's disease although I'm happy to find out there is alternative medicine available which gifted Michele her life back.

Today, my UC is not active although I know it can come back anytime! Thank goodness for people like Michele and the Voices of UC campaign, they really do give me and many others living with UC hope!
