My precious cat was diagnosed with Kidney failure in August of this year. At that time we put her on a special Renal diet. This, in some cases, has given up to 2 years of life for pets. I found vomit from her this past Wednesday although, when she is sick, she disappears and hides. She still seems a bit wild and withdraws when not feeling well. I looked for her all day Wednesday. Thursday morning she came out and wasn't breathing well. I took her to the vet and they diagnosed her with Pneumonia. The vet hydrated her with a drip, gave her a shot and sent medicine home with me. Her condition didn't improve through the weekend. She was a bit out of her mind. All she wanted to do was crawl inside her water bowl. I kept drying her off because she was soaking herself.

I had this sick feeling that she wasn't going to be able to beat this. I took her to the vet this morning and discovered, on top of everything, she was fighting congestive heart failure. It was all too much for her to fight.

It broke my heart to let her go. I've never put an animal to sleep but I couldn't let her suffer knowing she wouldn't be able to get better. I've prayed for the past week and today I continue to pray that God crossed her over and he's embraced her into his peaceful retreat.

She will be with me in my heart always!

Charcoal has earned her keep. She is featured on my cat bereavement card along with my precious cat Scruples (shown in the picture. They are such different souls but both very special to me. I know we'll meet Scruples again in heaven but until then Charcoal and I are living our best lives. I've been blessed with beautiful little fury angels!

Wow, what more can I say about Rita Edwards, she is a real hero! I love her passion and energy. She did everything possible to make sure that the breeder she had gotten her precious Scrabble from, couldn't continue to harm and kill other animals through neglect. Rita could have walked away like most would or maybe went above the average person by saving her puppy and just moving on with her life but instead she not only saved her baby, she saved the lives of countless others. Today, she is using her story to empower others. Pretty amazing!

Arlene stepping into my life was heaven sent. Neither of us had any idea that when I would be reading her response to my interview questions (which focused on Pet bereavement and her efforts towards animal health) that my cat, Scruples, would be taking his last breaths in those very moments. Her kindness did sooth my aching heart. I will never forget how Scruples touched my life nor should I; he was a blessing. I encourage you to take a look at Arlene's sight, of course, only if you are an animal lover!

It was hard for me to create an inspirational article today considering I watched my baby, Scruples, take his last breath yesterday morning. This little four-legged blessing was a pillar in my world for twenty years. He supported me through so much hardship. He helped me endure a divorce, betrayal, lost loved ones, job loss, health issues and I could go on and on! All he expected was unconditional love and tasty food in return. I am so grateful for my years with him and the void in my heart feels like it will last an eternity.

He was my little angel dressed in character of a cat and I miss him horribly. I'm not sure where I'm at in the stages of grief or how long it will take me to feel well again but I'm sure that I'm in the trenches of sorrow and it really hurts!

I'm hopeful my logical mind will over power my heart and allow me to find happiness in his memory in my near future but only time will tell. Are you suffering a loss? If so, what has helped you to move forward? Are you stuck, share your story with me.
